How to Prepare for your Photo Appointment

Your photo appointment has been booked and added to your calendar. In the midst of this excitement, you begin to wonder, “what do I do now?” At Visually Sold, we want to make sure you feel fully prepared for your appointment. The photo appointment is the easy part! Here is our simple checklist for each room of the house.

Bedrooms

  • Declutter and organize the nightstands. Stage a book, clock or plant on the nightstand but keep it simple.

  • Clean up the room. Put clothes into the closet or dressers out of sight.

  • Make the bed!

  • Put away personal photos if you are able to, this will protect your privacy and better help a potential buyer envision living there.

Bathroom & Laundry Room

  • Clear off the countertops.

  • Close toilet lids.

  • Remove items from the shower and ensure they are out of sight. This includes soaps and towels. Towels should be hung on a rack or folded up and arranged neatly!

  • Close the shower curtain.

    Declutter and put away laundry detergent and other items. Use laundry baskets to store clothes and hide them away.

Living Room

  • Clear off the coffee table.

  • Put away any toys for kids or pets.

  • Organize pillows and blankets.

  • Turn the TV off.

Kitchen

  • Deep clean the kitchen.

  • Remove trashcans and hide them in the pantry or garage.

  • Stage any islands or bars with flowers or plate settings.

  • Remove any pet food bowls.

  • Put dishes away.

  • Declutter the counters.

  • Hide any food/drink items.

Exterior

  • Remove cars from the driveway. You can park them in the garage or on the street. Our photographers will park on the street for the appointment!

  • Clear the yard of any toys.

  • Clean up the landscaping. Edge, mow and rake up any leaves!

  • Close the garage door.

  • Hide trashcans.

  • Power wash the driveway or house if you are able to.

All Rooms

  • Turn off ceiling fans.

  • Turn on all lights.

  • Open all blinds and curtains.

  • Declutter.

By taking the time to prepare your listing for photos, you are ensuring a smooth appointment and that your home will stand out from the crowd and receive the best first impression possible!
