How to Optimize Your Instagram Bio as a Real Estate Agent

Your bio as a real estate agent is a cover letter to potential clients! When paired with the first 10 posts in your feed, your bio will give people an overview of your expertise and who you are as an agent! Today, we’ll be giving you some quick but comprehensive tips on how to best take advantage of the Instagram Bio!

What makes up the bio?

An Instagram bio is compiled of several features.

  • Display Name

  • Your Account Category

  • Description

  • External Links

  • Contact Information

Let’s break those down!

Display Name

Usually you give your name first when introducing yourself, so that’s why we’re starting here! We recommend using the professional name you go by, and then including a keyword as well.

Keywords are ideas and topics that define what your content is about. In this case, it will also help you populate in a search if someone is searching for that specific content.

An example of a display name utilizing this strategy is as follows:

Evan Roberts | Atlanta Realtor or Evan Roberts | Georgia Real Estate Agent or Visually Sold | Georgia Real Estate Media

Account Category

Next up is your account category! This will help people find your business. They do this by telling Instagram’s search algorithm to display your business when people search for businesses in your niche and area. Please note, this feature can only be used if your profile is a Business Profile. We recommend switching your Instagram Account to Business regardless!

Real Estate Agents can make use of: Real Estate, Real Estate Agent, Real Estate Company, Real Estate Service and more! Choose the category that you believe best fits your profile.

Note: Real Estate is the most popular category within the ones pertaining to the real estate industry.

Description

Within the description section, you’re allowed 150 characters to describe you and your business. We recommend making use of emojis and keeping your points short and easily readable! It's a snapshot of your Instagram account and a quick way to show users who you are and what you're about.

Ideally, you’ll also want to incorporate keywords into your description. If you can’t think of a way to incorporate them into your description, utilizing hashtags with them is also a great way to achieve this!

Below are examples of two descriptions:

📸 Photos, Videos, 3D Tours, Drone, Floor Plans

📈 35,000+ Homes Photographed

📍 Serving agents all over Georgia

OR

🏡 Atlanta Real Estate Pro 🌆 | Your guide to seamless home transactions | Educating, empowering, and exceeding expectations! 📚✨ #ATLHomes

Here are examples of keywords in hashtags to include in your description as a real estate agent: #RealEstateAgent, #DreamHome, #PropertyExpert, #HouseHunting, #AtlantaRealtor, #HomeSweetHome, #RealEstateGoals, #SoldBy[AgentName]

External Links

Instagram allows up to five links in your Instagram bio! The first one will be used as the main display on your bio.

Your links could include:

  • Personal website

  • Listing website

  • Youtube content

Or it could link to a custom landing page that houses multiple links to all your important content. A great example of a site that can accomplish that would be linktr.ee.

Contact Information

This section is pretty self-explanatory! You can add contact buttons to your profile that lets you provide your email address, phone number, and WhatsApp without sacrificing any precious character space. Additionally, you can include an address for your home office!

Wrapping it up

Utilizing the Instagram Bio to its fullest potential is a great and efficient way to ensure you’re reaching the largest audience possible, without having to dive into the beast of content creation! Want more social media tips? Visit the social tips section of our blog here!
